Hello All,
If any of you or anyone you know successfully harvests a white tailed deer, we are looking to collect tissue samples from the head to test for chronic wasting disease in WMU 13, 14, 12A, 12B and 11B. This includes a portion of the brain steam, lymph node glands, two teeth and clip of hair from the ear, as well as additional information around the harvest location and date.
There are depot freezers stationed around Thunder Bay and Nipigon where anyone can drop off the WTD head. In Thunder Bay, one is setup at the MNR on 25th Side Road and the other is at Bait and Bow Archery on London Drive in the County Fair area. The one in Nipigon is setup at the Pine Crest Hotel.
Or you could call me on my cell at 807-629-8694 or Richard Hagdu’s cell at 807-620-3852 to collect the head or samples. You can distribute these cell phone numbers to anyone that hunts or harvest a WTD.
Thanks, Kyle Jackson
