Got out to Lac yesterday morning with full intentions of sledding out. As I was going through the rolling hills before Shabaqua I encountered heavy frost fog. Had to slow down to 80 km as I couldn't see. My poor truck wasn't pumping out too much heat anymore and the windows were fogging. As I was approaching Lac it looked like there was less snow than town so I had my hopes up that I could drive out with my truck. After talking with Gary, he said the road to Coffin Island was plowed, and I only had another few miles travel past there to get to my shack. As I got to Coffin there were no tire tracks heading off the plowed road so I put the truck in 4 low and broke trail all the way to my shack. Went through a half dozen slush holes but just kept the pedal down. My brother was coming out a few hours later so if I got stuck, he eventually would have rescued me. When I got to the shack it was -34 degrees celsius so the sled ride would have been hell. It was worth it as the fish started to hit just before lunch and wasn't long before we were throwing back 20" plus walleye. My brother picked up a 28" walleye before we headed home today. It was a little tougher coming back as the lake drifted in from the snow overnight.
Here is the one my brother got this morning.
